Manuel Antonio is located on the Southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica and it is near several rivers that have great spots for white water rafting. Manuel Antonio white water rafting offers some of the best white water rafting that can be found in all of Costa Rica. It is a fun and exhilarating excursion for adventurous spirits. There are several tours offered by local companies that will take you on the nearby Savegre River for example. One company, Amigos del Rio, has been operating for over ten years in the Manuel Antonio area. These tours will often launch from the Savegre River and are fun, scenic, and enjoyable. As you look around, the scenery is beautiful and it feels as if you are in a scene or film created by National Geographic.

For some of the more experienced or expert level rafters you can book a tour or raft the famous “Chorro”on the Naranjo River. The Chorro rapids are considered to be a class IV rafting adventure, so it is not for the faint of heart! These tours are also offered near the Manuel Antonio area. However, rafting on the Naranjo is advisable only during certain parts of the year. Heavy rainfalls during Costa Rica’s rainy season can make it too dangerous to raft.

The local tour guides and rafting experts will often stop halfway for a break to share snacks, point out the beautiful landscape and wildlife, share local facts, and take you to a hidden waterfall depending on the type of tour booked.

It is always important to go with expert guides who know the river well. These guides will also help you with the right gear, safety tips and procedures and more importantly they will help you to have a good time while sharing the best local tips and knowledge with you.
