For some of the more experienced or expert level rafters you can book a tour or raft the famous “Chorro”on the Naranjo River. The Chorro rapids are considered to be a class IV rafting adventure, so it is not for the faint of heart! These tours are also offered near the Manuel Antonio area. However, rafting on the Naranjo is advisable only during certain parts of the year. Heavy rainfalls during Costa Rica’s rainy season can make it too dangerous to raft.
The local tour guides and rafting experts will often stop halfway for a break to share snacks, point out the beautiful landscape and wildlife, share local facts, and take you to a hidden waterfall depending on the type of tour booked.
It is always important to go with expert guides who know the river well. These guides will also help you with the right gear, safety tips and procedures and more importantly they will help you to have a good time while sharing the best local tips and knowledge with you.
